Dr Zwanani (Titus) Mathe, Pr. Eng
(BSc Chem. Eng., PhD Chem. Eng, MBL) is a South African who is focused on the development of Africa. He has an in-depth understanding of the various energy sources, their utilization and benefits. Zwanani has more than 20 years of work experience, of which 5 years has been spent at Executive level. He is currently a Senior Manager at Eskom responsible for Boiler Plant Engineering, Turbine Plant Engineering, Gas Plant Engineering, Wind Plant Engineering and Solar CSP Plant Engineering. Previously he worked for the South African National Energy Research Institute (SANERI), responsible for the promotion of alternative fuels including Compressed Natural Gas, Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), Hydrogen, Bioethanol and Biodiesel. He was instrumental in developing the Green Transport Programme for South Africa, focusing on demonstration of vehicles powered by alternative fuels and the associated refueling infrastructure.

Zwanani has also worked for the CSIR as a Research Engineer, and worked for the University of Cape Town whilst obtaining his PhD. He has also experienced the realities of the chemical industry whilst working for Sappi Saiccor and S.A. Cyanamid.

Zwanani is a Member of the South African Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (SAIMM), member of the South African Institute of Chemical Engineers (SAICHE) and registered with Engineering Council of South Africa as a professional engineer. He was recently appointed by the Minister of Public Works to serve on the Engineering Council, and chairs the Central Registration Committee for engineering practitioners in South Africa.
