Yokesh Singh, Eskom, South Africa

Yokesh Singh (M.Sc. Chem Eng) has extensive experience in the Power Plant environment. He began his carrier in Eskom working on boiler plant performance and conducting Station Thermal Efficiency testing while being developed in the field of combustion engineering. This expanded into investigations into new coal fired technologies including Fluidised Bed Combustion, Supercritical Technologies, Integrated Gasification Combined Cycle Technology and emission abatement technologies such as FGD and De NOx Systems.

In 2004 he lead the team that produced the Concept Design and pre-feasibility studies for, Medupi Power Station and was involved in the development of the business case.

Following on from the Project development side he was appointed as the Boiler Engineering Manager within Group Technology Engineering. The department is responsible for the management of the engineering design and procurement of large scale utility boilers and associated plant including the air quality cleaning equipment. In addition the department provides design modification and engineering support to the operational stations.

Yokesh is also currently overseeing the introduction of torrefied biomass into Eskom’s existing coal fired power stations.
