Workshop on Processing routes for Solid Recovered Fuels, Dublin, 20 October, 2011

Production and utilisation options for Solid Recovered Fuels

IEA Bioenergy Task 32
and 36

Hilton Dublin
City hotel
Charlemont Place, Dublin 2, Ireland

Many waste streams contain a biomass fraction which can contribute to renewable energy production. By separating wastes into different fractions that can be used for different applications, more attractive processing routes might become available for the raw material, considered from an environmental
and/or financial perspective.

This IEA Bioenergy workshop provided an overview of the market perspectives for the production and utilisation of Solid Recovered Fuels from waste streams. What production and utilisation routes are available, for what end uses can SRF be used, and what criteria could be used to select the most interesting processing route under given conditions?
